SESAM 0.15.0 introduces vehicle-type-specific traffic scaling in the Scenario Editor. Traffic demand can now be adjusted individually for different vehicle types.

Lane closures are now implemented using SUMO rerouters instead of modifying the road network. This preserves the original network topology while allowing vehicles to be rerouted around closed lanes.

Global rerouting can now be enabled or disabled at scenario level in the editor, providing more control over vehicle routing behavior during simulations.

We have also taken the first steps toward a SESAM MCP service, laying the foundation for interacting with SESAM through AI assistants.

This release also brings editor performance improvements, several smaller fixes, and an upgrade to SUMO 1.28.0.

The Scenario Editor introduces traffic signal plan timing editing. Traffic signal phases and timings can now be adjusted directly in the browser.

Comparing simulation results is now much easier with the new comparison overview. It allows multiple runs and different simulations to be compared side by side.

SESAM now uses GeoParquet ⚡ for internal network and output data, resulting in smaller files, faster loading of larger scenarios.

The new built-in scenario of Berlin-Adlershof is ready to explore.

This release also includes several bug fixes, security updates, and smaller improvements. Area selection in the Builder has also been simplified and the simulation engine has been upgraded to SUMO 1.27.1.

SESAM 0.13.0 introduces a major redesign of the map-based workflows in the Builder, Analyzer, and Editor. The interfaces are now more consistent across the platform and provide more room for working directly with scenarios, maps, and simulation results.

The Editor now uses a fullscreen layout, making better use of the available screen space when editing scenarios. This makes it easier to inspect the network, select elements, and apply changes without losing context.

The Analyzer playback has been substantially improved and is now significantly faster, especially for larger simulations with many vehicles. Vehicle rendering has also been refined, and playback now supports richer interaction such as following vehicles, showing complete routes, and displaying traffic light states.

The analysis view in the Analyzer now provides additional map-based metrics, including relative speed, density, flow, and time loss. Edges and trips can be located directly on the map or opened from the corresponding data tables, making it easier to move between visual inspection and detailed data analysis.

Data handling has also been improved. Floating car data is now prepared in a Parquet-based format for efficient browser-side playback, analyzer charts use a unified trip dataset with extended summaries, and downloaded outputs now include the relevant FCD Parquet data.

SESAM has also been upgraded to SUMO 1.27.0.

With SESAM 0.12.0 we further expand the capabilities of the Scenario Editor, giving you more detailed control over your SUMO networks directly in the browser.

You can now edit lane-to-lane connections at intersections, making it easier to model turn restrictions, dedicated turning movements, or temporary routing changes.

In addition, individual lanes can be closed and reopened, enabling the representation of reversible lane closures or temporary construction measures within the network.

SESAM has also been upgraded to SUMO 1.26.0, ensuring compatibility with the latest features and improvements of the simulation engine.

This release also includes several platform updates, bug fixes, and performance improvements across the system, resulting in a more stable and responsive experience.

We are pleased to announce SESAM Release 0.11.0 and just in time for St. Nicholas Day, we have a special gift: you can now edit your SUMO scenarios directly in SESAM.

The new scenario editor allows you to adjust speed limits and access permissions (vehicle classes) without leaving the browser. This is just the beginning: additional editing capabilities will be added over the coming weeks to make it even easier to refine and iterate on your scenarios.

We have also optimized the Analyzer so that larger scenarios and longer simulation runs can be visualized more quickly. By compressing the transferred data, map rendering and playback now feel noticeably smoother, even for complex datasets.

In addition, our OpenStreetMap server cluster has been upgraded. Map requests are now answered significantly faster and SESAM can take advantage of higher-quality vector maps, resulting in a more responsive and visually clearer user interface.

We are excited to announce SESAM Release 0.10.0, which introduces one of the most frequently requested features: You can now upload your own scenarios!

Simply compress your scenario folder into a ZIP file and upload it directly in the SESAM workspace. The uploaded scenario will be quickly integrated, allowing you to run simulations and analyze results with all SESAM tools.

This release also includes a range of API enhancements, many of which are based on direct user feedback. Among the most notable updates:

• The simulation status and log messages are now stored and available via the API.
• Projects and scenarios can now also be accessed and filtered by their name, not just their ID.

In this release of SESAM, we have primarily focused on enhancing the Analyzer to improve both functionality and user experience.

The playback view in the Analyzer has received significant updates, including a fullscreen mode and more new vehicle shapes.

Vehicle positioning has been adjusted to provide a more realistic representation, and users can now choose between displaying vehicles in their true size or enlarging them for better visibility.

The Analyzer now also provides new edge-specific data, including the number of lanes and the maximum allowed speed on selected edge.

We are pleased to announce the release of SESAM Webservice Version 0.8.0, launching just in time for the SUMO User Conference 2024. This release introduces a several new features aimed at enhancing user experience and functionality.

Significant enhancements have been made to the backend, enabling the initiation of multiple simulation runs from a single scenario. Users now have the flexibility to set seed values for the random number generator either automatically or manually, improving reproducibility and customization of simulations.

The Analyzer has been completely overhauled to provide a more efficient and integrated experience. The new simulation playback view operates seamlessly within the same interface as the new statistics view. Network edges can now be color-coded based on relative speed or average traffic volume, offering more intuitive and visually informative analytics.

As a result of a customer request, this service release enhances the floating car data output of simulation. In addition to the position and the angle of a vehicle, the output now also contains the current edge and lane of each vehicle.

Moreover, we also significantly accelerated our map rendering to ensure a smoother and quicker user experience.

This is a minor service release, mainly updating to the latest version of SUMO 1.19.0. Users now have the ability to configure in their account settings whether they want to be contacted by us for SESAM related news.

Additionally, several issues with built-in scenarios and the creation of scenarios have been addressed and fixed.

Just in time for the SUMO User Conference 2023 we are very happy to announce a new release of SESAM.

In this release we focused on extending the REST API and added new endpoints for the builder and the simulator. Users can now create new scenarios and conduct simulations via REST API calls.

We also put a lot of work in creating a user guide and an API documentation to help the users get started quickly. Example code snippets in Python, sequence charts and interactive web APIs should make it easy to integrate SESAM.

We also fixed several bugs, enhanced our test suite and upgraded SESAM to Eclipse SUMO version 1.17.0.

We focused on the Analyzer in SESAM for this release. You can now watch the simulation playback, inspect the edges on the map and conduct a detailed analysis of each trip and each edge in the data tables.

SESAM now provides a first version of our REST API. The functionality is currently limited to account and workspace tasks, but more will be available soon. The API schema is publicly available to simplify the integration of SESAM.

This release also includes several minor improvements. Downloads are now prepared as a background task and produce a download link, which can be shared via email. We also upgraded SESAM to Eclipse SUMO version 1.16.0.

The scenario builder received a major new feature in this version. In addition to the existing capability to define random background traffic, it is now also possible to quickly define additional traffic flows.

Simply pick a source and sink location on the map, select the vehicle type, adjust the amount of vehicles per hour and let SESAM do the rest for you. Different colors for each flow will help you to differentiate the vehicles, when you run the scenario on your own computer.

This release also includes several minor improvements, for example the upgrade to Eclipse SUMO 1.14.1, the use of compressed files to save space and bandwidth or keyboard shortcuts. We also fixed a lot of bugs, so that contributed scenarios are working again and SESAM registration emails are no longer recognized as SPAM by Google.

This release is a service release, in which we focused on bug fixing and quality assurance. In comparison to the 0.3.0 release, no major feature were added, but a lot of small and minor issues were fixed. For example, a simulation run can be renamed in the workspace and built-in scenarios are useable again. We hope, that you will enjoy this release of SESAM.

Just in time before the debut of SESAM at the SUMO User Conference 2022, this release adds the first version of the analyzer to SESAM. You can now visually inspect the results of a simulation run. At the moment, we show the relative speed of vehicles with respect to the speed limit in the road network.

The builder got more powerful and now uses OpenStreetMap data to suggest scenario names based on the selected area. Moreover, we also updated Eclipse SUMO to the most recent version 1.13.0 and added support for timezones in the user profile of registered users to show local times instead of UTC-based times.

Anonymous guest users will be happy to read, that we relaxed the restrictions on the scenario names, so that umlauts and even emojis can be used - yeah!

This release is mostly a service release. It comes with a lot of bug fixes and performance improvements as a result of internal code refactoring and optimization.

Sometimes tasks may fail for a variety of reasons and we wanted to be able to handle those situations better. Now we are able to catch those cases and provide meaningful feedback to the user.

Moreover, we took the opportunity and finalized the switch from OpenLayers to Leaflet, which we already started to develop for 0.1.0. In addition to the benefits of a powerful mapping API, we are now proud to provide more interactive maps that also work well on mobile devices.

In this release, we focused on developing the simulation capabilities for SUMO. Registered users and guests can finally choose a scenario to be simulated with SUMO on the SESAM platform.

Users can influence the simulation run with predefined options or enable outputs to get insights on simulation results. They can be downloaded in the workspace.

Comments can be addded to scenarios and simulations to capture additional information or decisions and SESAM was upgraded to use the latest SUMO version (1.12.0).

This release improves the user interface of SESAM based on the feedback we received. It also adds user accounts. Users can now register an account at SESAM to access premium features and benefit from longterm storage. SESAM received offsite backup capabilities to prevent loss of user data.

The scenario builder now creates preview images of each scenario. They are displayed in the workspace.

SESAM now provides built-in scenarios for the cities Brunswick and Bologna. They can only be accessed by registered users.
